Taxis cost $35.00-$45.00 plus tolls and take 35-60 minutes. The least expensive way to get to Manhattan from JFK is to take the free Port Authority’s shuttle bus which stops at all terminals. This will be the slowest way to get into the city. This bus will take you to the Howard St. subway station where you can catch the A Train into Manhattan. Also, you can take the Q-10 to the Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike Station then catch subway E or F to the city. When using the bus you must have the exact change or you can use the Metro Card for buses and subways. Cary Airport Service buses leave for Manhattan every 20-30 minutes and start departing at 6:00 a.m. run until midnight, and stop at all JFK Terminals. The ride to 42nd St. and Park Ave. takes about 1 hour and continues on to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The Gray Line Air Shuttle serves the major Manhattan hotels directly from the airport. Arrangements for this shuttle can be made through the airport’s ground transportation counter or you can use the courtesy phone. Shuttles operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
