New York-New York Hotel and Casino opened its doors in 1996 and is located
on the Las Vegas Strip on the corner of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas
Blvd, directly across the street from the MGM Grand.
Where is this place, New York City or Las Vegas? Its a very unique resort in that some of New York City's most famous buildings and landmarks were used as the theme. The Statue of Liberty stands out in front of the skyscrapers that include the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and the Century Building. The replicas are only about a third of the size of the actual buildings in New York, and the entry-way leading into the hotel is a replica of the Brooklyn Bridge that is about 300 feet in length.
The theme on the inside of the hotel features the many districts of New York City, including Times Square, Park Avenue, Central Park, Greenwich Village, and Wall Street. The casino is over 80,000 square feet and offers over 2000 slot machines and 80 gaming tables.
A variety of gift shops, like Houdini's Magic, Soho Village, and Cashman crystal are spreadd throughout.
In addition to the tree and rock landscaped pool, there is also The Spa New York-New York where you can go to relax in the streamroom, sauna or the nice whirpool or hydrotherapy tubs. Srubs, Body masks, and messages are also available at the New York-New York resort in Las Vegas.
There is also 30,000-plus square feet entertainment center, call the Coney Island Emporium, since it was modeled after the historic amusment park at Coney Island. There you can access "The Manhattan Express", and we're not referring to the subway.....this baby's a rollar coaster that twists and spins and goes full speed around the entire resort.
As far as accommodations go for New York-New York, in Las Vegas, the hotel has just over 2000 rooms and suites that are located throughout a dozen ajoining skyscraper replicas.
There is plenty to do in the way of nightlife, as you have lounges like Coyote Ugly, Big Apple Bar, and The Bar at Times Square. For sports, check out the awesome 33,000-square-foot ESNP Zone which is a huge complex for both dining and sports entertainment.
There are plenty of nice restaurants and cafe's to dine casually throughout the resort, and the hotel also has two fine-dining establishments. "Il Fornaio" server real "New York Style" Italian cuisine. If you're in the mood for steak or seafood, you'll want to dine at Gallaher's.
Only in Las Vegas can you experience New York, but you'll never be able to experience Las Vegas in New York, get it?
