In 1946, The Golden Nugget was built in
downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street. Today, more than 50 years later, the
Golden Nugget is the only four-star hotel in the downtown area. And while
it didn’t start out that way, it has evolved over the years to become the
largest and most expensive hotel and casino in Las Vegas, thanks in part
to Las Vegas mogul Steve Wynn and now current owner, MGM Mirage.
In fact, a $35 million renovation project was recently completed to upgrade the property’s 1,900+ guest rooms and suites, all of which consist of three towers. All rooms are nicely appointed, elegantly furnished, and equipped with only the most modern amenities available today. Each room has a spectacular view overlooking the Sierra Nevadas, pool area, and the remainder of downtown Las Vegas. The service at Golden Nugget in Las Vegas is second to none. That is due in part to a high ratio of employees to guests, and there’s a recognizable difference of the level of service received here, compared to the busier and larger resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. For dining, the hotel has five different restaurants onsite, including their very popular buffet. Outside, the Olympic-sized, heated swimming pool is the only one available in the downtown area. There is also a first class spa with a variety of treatments available. Fremont is just a few steps from the main entrance, and is actually a pedestrian-shared street, since there’s so much activity with live entertainment, shopping, etc. along that section of Freemont. So if you want the Freemont Street experience while staying in a four-star hotel that’s been around since before the Las Vegas Strip even existed, then put the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino at the top of your list for your next Las Vegas vacation.
